A typical bead "research" project...



Here's a list of exotic old bead "names" submitted recently by one of our avid blog readers.  All are European beads except those in red, which at the time were thought to be African.  Jean Barbot visited the Guinea Coast twice in the late 17th century, making comments on trade as he observed it.  Wouldn't it be nice to identify these beads with photos of period specimens?  What were they worth at the time?

continuation on my first comment.
I do have an imprortend collection dutch beads from the 17th and 18th century from escavations and glass furnaces. There not for sale but if anyone wants to know something about original Dutch trade beads, your welcome to ask.
